In our second annual review of the hotel market, we highlight the recent growth of the aparthotel sector, which is one of the most exciting segments of the market.  New aparthotel formats are blurring the lines between serviced apartments and traditional hotels, and borrowing new ideas from other emerging sectors such as co-working and co-living. 

The sector comprises approximately 25,000 units in the UK and Ireland, making it about 3% of the size of the conventional hotel market. 

However, with around 6,000 new units scheduled to open by 2021, or about 13% of the total active pipeline, the sector is one of the fastest growing elements of the overall accommodation market.
