The business rates appeals system is being reformed to provide a quicker, clearer and more transparent service to businesses. 

In October 2015, the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) issued a consultation paper setting out its proposals for a 3-stage approach: ‘check, challenge, appeal’, and sought views from businesses and other interested parties.

It is hoped that the DCLG’s final report on Business Rates Reform will be announced in the Summer Budget on 16 March 2016.
