The three-day challenge, which takes place in the Italian Alps in January, will see Edwards hosting the ‘ski clinic’. Some may be unaware that Edwards is also an excellent skier and so the ideal coach to help attendees with their skiing technique. He will also deliver a motivational speech about his own journey and the importance of resilience.
Record-breaking Edwards is legendary in overcoming the odds, competing as a ski jumper at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary after narrowly missing out on being selected for the Great Britain downhill skiing team at the 1984 Winter Olympics. He was ranked world number nine in amateur speed skiing.
The national commercial property consultancy’s annual event, which includes a business forum, exciting on and off-piste action, high-level deal making and expert coaches, has become an institution in the calendar.
Ezra Nahome, LSH CEO, said: “At LSH, we’re all about passion, problem-solving and thinking beyond the obvious. Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards is the king of lateral thinkers. Having missed out on a place in Team GB for downhill skiing in 1984, he decided to diversify into ski jumping to realise his dream of competing in the 1988 Winter Olympics.
“He overcame issues with funding, equipment, weight disadvantage, eyesight, and a lack of practice facilities in the UK to succeed in his mission to compete. It is that kind of determination and life experience that we want to celebrate."
The 30th anniversary LSH Ski Challenge takes place at the Alpine ski resort of Courmayeur from Thursday 19 to Saturday 21 January and involves over 200 delegates, including business owners, occupiers, fund managers and managing directors from some of the largest property companies in the UK.
Eddie Edwards said: “I love a challenge - as most people will testify - and look forward to getting to know the Lambert Smith Hampton team and their guests, getting them all ‘slope fit’, then watching them in action.”
A film about Eddie’s life, starring Taron Egerton as Eddie and Hollywood heavyweight Hugh Jackman as his coach, was released earlier this year and quickly became a box office smash due to his heart-warming story.
The LSH Ski Challenge event is sponsored by CoStar, DWF, Fairfield Real Estate Finance and Wedlake Bell. For more information, visit www.lsh.co.uk/ski
