DB Regio Tyne & Wear Ltd, a subsidiary of German state rail Deutsche Bahn, has awarded a long-term estate management contract to our transport team.
Two year contract with possible extension
Beating rival bids from other leading consultancies, the contract will run for two and a half years with a potential two year extension. It will see us provide a broad range of property services across the Tyne and Wear Metro system’s network of 60 stations and associated depot buildings spanning Newcastle, Sunderland and the surrounding areas.
DB Regio Tyne & Wear Ltd formally took over responsibility for operating Metro trains and managing stations from Nexus in April 2010 following an extensive tender process. The concession agreement runs for seven years, with an optional two-year performance-related extension.
Delivering integrated services across teams and regions
Paul Barnett, Transport Director in our Leeds office, will have day to day responsibility for delivering the contract, with support from teams in Nottingham and London, and our local Newcastle office.
Paul said: “This contract reflects our track record in delivering truly integrated services. It ensures the best commercial return on behalf of the clients; both in terms of maximising rental income and enhancing the passenger experience.”
Established relationship with client
Richard McClean, Managing Director at DB Regio (Tyne & Wear) Ltd, said: “We already have an established working relationship with LSH’s Transport Consultancy team due to their involvement with the Arriva trains portfolio. As such, we have complete confidence in their ability to help us achieve our objectives.”
The new appointment follows a recent successful contract extension to manage Northern Rail’s operational property portfolio in October 2010.
Paul concluded: “DB Regio’s contract is geared towards meeting service quality and revenue protection targets. We look forward to working with them to stimulate mutual growth and benefits for both organisations.”
