Acting for Vantage Asset Management, we have signed a new tenant for a 34,728 sq ft warehouse on Calmore Industrial Estate in Southampton.
Having only been instructed to market the available space on the estate three months ago, we have now let units R-W to Eagle Freight Terminal Ltd.
Expansion from Southampton Docks
The national freight and haulage business, originally established in 1967, is headquartered in Ipswich with other sites in Watford and Felixstowe. The business had formerly occupied a smaller warehouse in Totton. Owing to expansion of its Southampton Docks business, the company made the decision to relocate to larger premises.
Customs-approved property
Adrian Whitfield, Director in out South Coast team, commented: “As with most industrial and logistics occupiers, the proximity of this property to the M27 made it a viable contender. For this particular tenant, the fact that the property was already Customs-approved, with a large and secure concrete yard, cemented its decision to locate here.”
Shortage of large industrial units
Adrian added: “The team here was instructed by Vantage on the scheme in August, and solicitors were appointed in September to progress the transaction. The current shortage of good quality industrial space over 30,000 sq ft in the region certainly helped this transaction complete quickly; Calmore offered an immediate and perfect match for the new tenant.”
