Friday, March 6, 2015, is the last day that sites with the potential to be used for homes or other economic uses can be registered with Bristol City, Bath and North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset councils.

Marcus Plaw, head of planning at LSH Bristol office, urged landowners to act now to alert the local authorities, which wants all suitable pockets of land to be registered as part of their Call for Sites initiative.

“This Call for Sites initiative is a helpful and immediate opportunity for landowners to make the councils aware of their land's development potential,” explained Marcus.

“The councils are interested in sites and broad locations with the capacity to deliver ten or more homes or economic development on sites of 0.25ha or 500 sq.m of floorspace.  There is still time for landowners to review their portfolios and arrange to submit sites.”

The four authorities are to gather evidence on the availability of land and to estimate the number of homes and the amount of employment floorspace that can be accommodated on it.

“This will enable the local authorities to plan positively for the area in the knowledge of what land is available,” added Marcus.
