The consultation into options for both future developments sites and planning policies, which will be relevant in deciding planning applications, ends on January 30, 2015.

The Placemaking Plan is still at an early stage in its preparation.  The consultation document makes clear that the options presented are not definitive and suggestions about alternatives, or combinations of the suggested options, are being encouraged.

Marcus Plaw, planning director of LSH in Bristol and the South West, said: “The Placemaking Plan, once adopted, will complement the Council’s Core Strategy – and help to deliver development and economic growth across the plan area.

“It identifies some key development sites in Bath, such as Bath City Riverside and the Recreation Ground, and development sites in towns and villages across the Somer Valley.

“Landowners, developers, interest groups and the public should seize this opportunity to comment on the plan and influence its direction.  Some key policies will influence the location of homes for the elderly or with care needs; overall new housing density which balances the sustainable use of land with the quality and character of neighbouring areas; and growth areas for office and industrial premises.”
