Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has been appointed retail agent for the newly refurbished Queen’s Square Shopping Centre in West Bromwich.

Queens Square, in the heart of the Black Country town, has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment to transform it into a bright and modern retail centre.

The main retail link between New Square Shopping Centre and High Street, it has more than 50 retail units with occupiers including major High Street names such as Boots, Poundland, H Samuel, EE and Game.

LSH is working to attract new retail and leisure operators to the centre, which boasts free WiFi, new flooring, the introduction of natural daylight into the malls, full interior redecoration, refurbished toilets, and reconfigured retail units.

Significant interest from leading High Street and independent retailers

There is a total of 230,000 sq ft of retail space, ranging from 500 sq ft to 11,000 sq ft, including 22,000 sq ft of leisure and restaurant space. Units can also be combined to suit retailers’ requirements.

Richard Jones, Director of Retail Agency at the consultancy’s Birmingham office, said the appointment by receivers and Fairacre to act as retail agents was the result of LSH’s efforts to strengthen its regional shopping centre instructions.

“We are very excited to extend our retail agency work further with this key instruction for Queens Square Shopping Centre,” he said.

“The immediate area has undergone quite a transformation over the past couple of years, with The Public being changed into the Central Sixth campus and the opening of the Odeon Cinema, plus the launch of various dining outlets and cafes.

“The refurbishment of Queens Square complements the newly transformed area of the town and retailers now have the exciting opportunity to position themselves in a thriving sector of West Bromwich.

“Not surprisingly, there has been interest from a range of leading High Street names and independent retailers who are seeking representation at this key shopping destination. We hope to announce a raft of new occupiers there very soon.”

Queens Square Shopping Centre has an annual footfall of 4.6 million and 75% of visitors have a travel journey of 10 minutes or less. More than one third (38%) of shoppers visit the centre several times a week.
