LSH's public sector team has been chosen to act as property advisor to Wirral Borough Council.

The appointment sees LSH reviewing the council’s surplus assets and identifying options for their future use. The appointment is for a 3-year period.

Part of the Council’s wider transformation programme

Wirral Borough Council is the third largest metropolitan authority in the North West of England, and the single largest employer in the area. Its decision to review its property assets is part of a wider transformation programme, which is looking to release funds to support frontline services. LSH will be working alongside the council to prepare strategies for surplus assets, considering both disposals and options for revenue generating activities.

Rationalisation of property assets to support cost reduction

Richard Platt, Head of Public Sector at LSH in the North, said: “We are delighted to be working with Wirral Borough Council, assisting with the rationalisation of its property assets. In challenging economic times for the public sector, local authorities must be innovative in their approach to cost reduction, and the council’s current transformation programme is a good example of this.”

David Armstrong, Assistant Chief Executive at Wirral Borough Council said: “Providing quality services for our constituents is the council’s highest priority, and our upcoming work with LSH promises to make some valuable improvements in the area. We look forward to working in partnership with LSH and continuing to invest in the people of Wirral.”

LSH was appointed following a formal bidding process, using the Government Procurement Services (GPS) framework. It acts as advisor to over 250 public sector clients, with its top three clients holding assets of £6.5bn.
