The Challenge
- We were appointed by Aspire Defence Capital Works (ADCW) to provide planning advice in relation to all works ‘behind the wire’ at Tidworth, Bulford, Larkhill and Perham Down in Wiltshire to facilitate the relocation of circa 4,000 troops out of Germany and unit moves within the UK under the Army Basing Programme (ABP).
- The ABP at Salisbury Plain has involved the construction of around 130 buildings delivering more than 250,000 sqm of new build floorspace and 2,600 new single bed spaces, together with a further 200 demolitions, alterations, extensions and refurbishments.
- As a protected habitat of international value and renowned historic landscape encompassing numerous designated heritage assets, including the Stonehenge World Heritage Site, Salisbury Plain provides a challenging setting for development of this scale.
Our Solution
- We worked closely with ADCW to secure the necessary planning approvals to support the delivery of the ABP works. This has involved a host of detailed, non-material and material minor amendment, variation of condition and discharge of condition applications. We have also provided extensive advice regarding Crown permitted development rights.
