Graduate Scheme
At LSH, we dare to do things differently. We may have been formed in 1773 but there is nothing old fashioned about us.
We look for dynamic, collaborative and curious individuals who have ideas aplenty and are not afraid to share them. Academic records are important, but not as critical as people skills, the desire to learn and to challenge the status quo.
Whether you’re interested in our Graduate Scheme, a Placement Year or just the chance to gain some vital work experience, allow this website to guide you through.
WHAT’S SO GRAD ABOUT US?
We’re proud of our market leading training and development record, and rightly so. On average, we currently seat around 20 new grads per year across all pathways, and our APC pass rate is currently at 90% – so well above the industry benchmark.
The catalyst for our success is the in-depth, tailored, and structured training programme we provide from the off. In our larger offices this a rotation system so you will spend time in different teams to gain real hands-on practical work experience and high level exposure to senior personnel and clients. You’ll get all the support you could possibly need along the way too. This will arm you with all the best tools and skills to complete your Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and qualify as a Chartered Surveyor with RICS.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE SEPTEMBER 2022 INTAKE WILL OPEN ON 1st OCTOBER and CLOSE AT 20:00 ON 15th NOVEMBER 2021. Read on for details of eligibility and how to apply
CAN I APPLY?
Although typical applicants will be studying, or have already completed, a RICS accredited undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in Real Estate, Planning (RICS/RTPI) or Building Surveying, we actively welcome students from ANY degree discipline who can demonstrate a genuine desire and enthusiasm to work in the industry and become a chartered surveyor.
We believe having a mix of graduates with different degree backgrounds brings a diversity of thought, skills and knowledge.
DON’T HAVE A PROPERTY RELATED DEGREE?
No problem… If you wish to apply for our graduate scheme but don’t have a RICS accredited related property degree, you will (if successful) be required to undertake a suitable part-time RICS accredited postgraduate MSc in Real Estate, either via an apprenticeship route or a stand-alone degree. This typically takes 2 years to complete on a part-time basis and you can work towards your APC at the same time. You should therefore allow a minimum of 2.5 years to qualify.
PLEASE NOTE: For Graduate Planner and Building Surveying roles you MUST have completed the relevant RTPI/RICS accredited degree in these subjects

Placement year opportunities
APPLICATIONS FOR THE SUMMER 2022 PLACEMENT YEAR SCHEME WILL OPEN ON 1st OCTOBER and CLOSE ON 15th NOVEMBER 2021. Read on for details of eligibility and how to apply…
We offer a placement year scheme for university students who are looking to complete a year in industry (or a sandwich year) as part of their bachelor’s degree course.
Placement year students are recruited on a 12-month fixed term contract which usually starts in July/August each year and may include a handover period with any outgoing placement students.
Placement year students are treated just like any other employee. From day 1 you will become an integral part of the team and will be expected to contribute, getting involved in real instructions and project work from the get-go. You will of course be closely supervised and supported as you grow and develop with the team.
Our placement students do not rotate around different teams but are given 12 months solid experience in a single team to enable them to develop excellent knowledge.
At LSH your placement year can count towards your APC so you will register with the RICS so you can record your experience as you go. This means it may be possible for you to sit your APC and qualify as a Chartered surveyor after 12-18 months on a graduate scheme.
If you do really well, you might receive an early offer to come back and join us as a graduate once you have finished University. Just think of the potential!
