Michael Booth

Michael Booth

Michael leads our North Machinery and Business Assets team and is based between our Leeds and Manchester offices. When he joined LSH in 2017 he brought with him a depth of business experience and expert skills in machinery and business valuations, disposals and professional advice.

During Michael’s 27 years of professional experience, he has worked across a wide spectrum of business and industrial sectors, both in the UK and internationally. His work with and for clients in professional valuations and disposals includes 10 years managing operational businesses in the UK, Europe, Russia, China and Japan.

Keith Tatterton

 

Keith has more than 30 years of valuation and auctioneering experience. Prior to joining Edward Symmons, now LSH, he was engaged in plant and machinery valuations and disposals at firms including King Sturge, Henry Butcher, Airey Entwistle, Dunlop Heywood and Edward Rushton.

Keith’s work has taken him around the world, involving all types of plant and machinery and covering every sector of the valuation spectrum. He has detailed experience in sectors ranging from reinstatement insurance valuations of oil refineries to valuations for accounts purposes and market valuations. In the last 15 years, Keith has principally advised finance companies on market and residual values together with asset management protocols.

David Hunter

 

David Hunter BSc (Hons) DipSurv MRICS joined Lambert Smith Hampton in August 2019 and is based in our Leeds office. He is responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships with restructuring and insolvency professionals, accountants, private clients, private equity houses and asset based lenders.

He has undertaken plant and machinery valuations for secured lending and disposal purposes; advised banks and insolvency practitioners with regards to machinery and equipment in insolvency and corporate recovery situations; provided pre-lend advice on machinery and equipment values and suitability for lending to assist with the management of risk; and carried out valuations of assets for financial purposes and presentation in accounts.

David has over ten years’ experience in assets valuation. Before joining Lambert Smith Hampton, David worked at Liquidity Services/ GoIndustry DoveBid where he was a Senior Asset Valuer responsible for plant and machinery valuations and disposals throughout the UK, Europe, Asia and Africa.

David has covered a wide range of industry sectors throughout his career including construction, engineering and fabrication, automotive, aerospace, printing, transport and logistics, mining, energy and recycling amongst others.

David is a RICS Registered Valuer and has been MRICS qualified since 2011.

Abbie Hickman

 

As a Senior Valuer in our Manchester office, Abbie works with banks, directors and financial companies to provide insolvency, financial, insurance and asset-based lending valuations across a wide range of industries. She provides expert assistance to online auction sales and private treaty sales and has project-managed many closure programmes.

Abbie originally trained as an accountant before joining Edward Symmons, now LSH, in 2013. She has honed her skills and knowledge since then, gaining experience in our London and other regional offices to widen her viewpoint. Having completed her Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme, she is able to manage sites safely, giving clients ultimate piece of mind.

MIDLANDS

Patrick Ditcham

 

Patrick’s career in valuation and auctioneering spans more than 30 years and has taken him to many locations around the world. He has worked on all types of plant and machinery, with specialisms in oil and gas plants, construction, automotive, machine tools, tank farms, production plants, woodworking, plastic injection moulders, ceramic and pottery and food and dairy processing plants.

Today, Patrick is an integral part of our team based in Birmingham. A member of RICS since 2000, Patrick has sat on the RICS International Board for the Machinery and Business Assets Professional Group since 2005. He is also a RICS APC Chairman and Assessor.

Mike Hanson

Mike Hanson

Mike has more than 30 years of experience to draw on in his role as Director in the Machinery and Business Assets team. His areas of expertise in plant and machinery and business assets are wide and varied, covering industries that range from pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging to foundry and forging, computer equipment and vehicles and logistics.  

Prior to joining Edward Symmons in 2014, which was acquired by LSH, Mike was a Director at Jones Lang LaSalle, a Partner at King Sturge and a Director at Savills, providing specialist valuation and disposal advice.

James Hanson

 

James is a Senior Valuer in our Nottingham team and has more than 25 years of experience in asset valuation and disposal. Prior to joining Edward Symmons, now LSH, he held positions at practices including Walker Walton Hanson, Savills and King Sturge, now JLL.

Throughout his career, James has conducted many live and online auction sales across a wide range of industry sectors including engineering and fabrication, printing, construction, food production and processing, woodworking, leisure and transport and logistics. He is adept at dealing with both insolvency and corporate client business sales and disposals, as well as valuations for acquisition purposes.

Gary Harper

 

Gary has more than 27 years of experience in asset valuation and disposal, gained with LSH and in previous positions with Savills, King Sturge and Charterfields. Throughout his career he has conducted many live and online auction sales across a wide range of industry sectors including engineering and fabrication, printing, construction, food production and processing, woodworking, leisure and transport and logistics. He has dealt with both insolvency and corporate client business sales and disposals together with valuations for acquisition and asset-based lending purposes.

Gary is a past president of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers and currently chairs its personal property and chattels committee. He is well-known as a valuer to whom clients and colleagues can turn to when a valuation is needed for something a little bit different – including a kennel of long-haired miniature Dachshunds.

Chris Buller

Chris Buller

Chris’s in-depth sector knowledge stems from his many years working at LSH, formerly Edward Symmons where he rose from joining as a raw graduate in 1981 to becoming a full equity partner and leader in the Machinery and Business Assets division. Today he provides asset and business valuations in the restructuring and insolvency sector, advising on their subsequent disposal if a business sale cannot be completed.

Chris’s wide-ranging valuation and disposal experience encompasses many asset classes, including all forms of commercial property, land bank frauds sites, aviation and aircraft, fine wines, IPR and business sales. His expert knowledge and understanding of clients ensure he can develop and manage relationships with all insolvency professionals, accounts and private clients.

Roland Cramp

Roland Cramp

While heading up our London and Southern Region team, Roland specialises in corporate recovery work. Under his leadership, the London team provides a one-stop shop for restructuring advice covering real estate, plant and equipment, inventory and intellectual property. A qualified Chartered Surveyor himself, he covers assignments dealing with all asset classes and has extensive experience in marketing and selling distressed businesses.

Roland joined Edward Symmons, now LSH, in 1990. Since then he has undertaken numerous valuation and disposal assignments covering manufacturing industries and the service sector, acting for both insolvency professionals and corporate clients.

Paul Proctor

Paul Proctor

With over 35 years experience in the Corporate Recovery sector, Paul has seen and dealt with most types of business, property type and asset class. He has worked with many IP friends and contacts over the years whether this be in relation to high profile cases or some of the more unusual or quirky assignments. He is RICS qualified and a specialist in the marketing and sale of distressed businesses.

Prior to acquisition in March 2015, Paul was Senior Partner and then Chairman of Edward Symmons for 12 years , focusing on the strategy, management and growth of the business ,whilst continuing to operate in the Machinery and Business Asset division.

Kevin Powell

Kevin Powell

Kevin is a pivotal member of London team, with 30 years of experience in asset valuation. Having started his career at the BBC as an Equipment Auditor, he joined Edward Symmons, now LSH, in 1990 as a Plant and Machinery Valuer, progressing to be Associate Director in 2017.

Throughout his career Kevin has gained vast experience and completed major online auction sales across a range of industry sectors, including TV and post-production, investment wine, construction, general engineering and fabrication, woodworking, automotive, printing, transport and aviation. He has been involved with business sales, independent business reviews, private client disposals and valuations for financial accounting purposes.

Matthew Wright

Matthew Wright

Matthew joined our London team in 2018, bringing 10 years of industry experience. His focus is on providing in-depth valuation and sales advice regarding plant and machinery businesses, as well as developing client relationships with insolvency professionals, asset-based lenders and corporate clients.

During his career, Matthew has carried out valuations in a wide range of industries in 46 countries. Following his MSc in Quantity Surveying he joined Appraisal & Valuation Consultants, then spent several years as an independent valuation consultant under his own company 74i, where he provided valuation mapping products for the energy insurance market. Today he specialises in energy, infrastructure and heavy machinery, while also working in insolvency, insurance, claims, financial reporting, purchase price allocation, asset-based lending and asset register creation/reconciliation.

Anthony Hart

Anthony Hart

Anthony joined LSH’s London office in 2016 from his background in the residential sector. Today he works predominantly for insolvency practitioners, responsible for providing valuation and professional advice in relation to business sales and property assets.

Anthony has an Honours Degree in Real Estate from The Royal Agricultural College and passed his APC in 2018, becoming a RICS Registered Valuer. He is already a pivotal part of our team, providing professional advice on a wide range of properties across the commercial, residential and agricultural sectors.

Gabriel Wechsler

Gabriel Wechsler

Gabriel joined LSH’s West End office in 2015, fresh from graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Real Estate from the University of Westminster. Since then, he has gained tremendous experience at LSH rotating through numerous departments including Valuation, Lease Advisory, Capital Markets, Property Management and Planning and Development.

When Gabriel passed his APC in 2018, he continued working in the Lease Advisory team before joining our busy Machinery and Business Assets team. Here he is bringing his wide experience together to focus on distressed property. Though one of the newest members of our team, Gabriel has already worked for many of LSH’s largest clients and is known for his charisma and hard work.

Tim Salter

Tim joined Lambert Smith Hampton in 2016 originally based in our London office and now leads the Southampton Machinery and Business Assets team, carrying out valuations and disposals of plant and machinery and other assets predominantly for our corporate insolvency clients.

Originally an agricultural specialist valuer and auctioneer, Tim has over 25 years’ experience in machinery valuation and disposal with the last 15 years in corporate insolvency covering all types of plant and equipment.

Tim still retains an agricultural specialism and has recently been involved in agricultural receiverships, liquidations and also acts as an Expert Witness.

A member of the RICS since 1994 and a Registered Valuer, Tim is also a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers.

Harry Cave

Harry Cave

Harry’s experience and knowledge mark him out as an expert Plant and Machinery Valuer and Auction Manager with the Machinery and Business Assets Team. From his base in LSH’s Southampton office, his valuations and disposals are primarily focused on the restructuring and insolvency markets as well as corporate clients and asset-based lending purposes.

Before Harry joined LSH in 2017, he spent three years at BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions, working across markets such as commercial vehicles, materials handling, construction and agriculture. This followed three years at valuation and auction firm Marriott & Co.

Simon Cornelius-Light

Simon Cornelius-Light

Simon Cornelius-Light ANAVA is based in our Exeter and Bristol offices. He is responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships with restructuring and insolvency professionals, accountants, private clients, asset-based lenders, public sector and Government institutions, mainly in the Southwest and Wales region. He is also responsible for the management and reporting of machinery and equipment valuations and also for disposal of businesses and assets by way of private treaty and online auction.

Simon commenced his machinery and business assets career with Edward Symmons back in 1990, starting as a junior valuer and progressing to Partner. Edward Symmons were acquired by Lambert Smith Hampton, where he is a MBA Director for the Southwest and Wales region. He is a member of National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA).

Simon is an avid golfer and his Holy grail is to have a single figure handicap one day.

Jason Hall

 

Jason manages our South West and Wales team, working across client instructions in our Bristol and Wales offices. He has vast experience in the delivery and management of machinery and business asset valuations and disposals, as well as distressed business sales. His clients vary from restructuring and insolvency practitioners, banks and asset-based lenders to advisors, accountants and private clients.

Since LSH moved to online auctions, Jason has been a key figure running auctions, multiple treaty sales and business sales. As a RICS Registered Valuer, he has covered a wide variety of sectors including engineering, fabrication, woodworking, food, renewables, mining, logistics, printing, retail, vessels and farming.

Matthew Hartley

 

Matthew is based in our Exeter office, providing a fast, responsive service to clients both across the South West and nationally. A RICS member, he works with insolvency practitioners, finance companies, asset-based lenders and private clients.  

Since Matthew joined Edward Symmons, now LSH, in 2009 he has provided tangible and intangible asset valuations, business disposals and asset disposals via both private treaty and online auctions. His role takes him across a variety of asset classes, including plant and equipment, construction, automotive, renewables, engineering, woodworking, food and beverage and services. Matthew is a qualified Site Supervisor under the Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme, ensuring the smooth and safe running of our operations.

Adam is a Senior Valuer based in our Bristol office and clients know they are in safe hands with him. An expert with 17 years of experience, he is an Associate of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers and a qualified Site Supervisor under the Safety Training Scheme for the Construction and Civil Engineering Industries.

Adam joined Edward Symmons, now LSH, in 2002 and has developed his skills and expertise since then. Alan Austin

Alan Austin

With 20 years in asset-based lending behind him, Alan is Head of both Machinery and Business Assets and our Asset-Based Lending Valuation Team. He takes a strong lead on growth strategy as we continue our 60-year heritage in corporate recovery, ensuring we remain top of the industry. Alan’s expert approach to business development includes arranging and coordinating comprehensive collateral reviews and valuations for both lenders and the associated advisory and investment community.

Before Alan joined LSH in 2019, he led teams at Close Brothers Invoice Finance and GE Capital, and worked for other ABLs including Independent Growth Finance and KBC Bank. He built up expert knowledge across all sectors in which asset-based lending features, as well as funding scenarios such as MBO, MBIs, acquisitions, private equity-led transactions, re-finance, turnaround and growth. Today, he focuses on ensuring that our team has the expert knowledge and skills required to act in each client’s best interests.

Glyn Grundy

 

A RICS Fellow with 42 years of experience across the industry, Glyn is highly experienced. He has been Director at LSH since 2015, heading up the Asset Based Lending Team in Manchester, having joined Edward Symmons in 1996. Glyn is pivotal to our team’s ability to respond to all client requests with detailed, ready knowledge.

During his career, Glyn has undertaken plant and machinery and inventory appraisals across a wide spectrum of industry classes for all the major asset-based lenders, with particularly specialism in plant hire materials handling, engineering and the steel sector. He has project managed hundreds of assignments, acting for asset-based lenders, banks, asset finance companies, major accountancy practices, corporate clients and private equity.

Glyn’s work includes financial valuations for balance sheet and tax impairment, insurance and expert witness work, including for the UK government. His work has taken him as far afield as South Africa, India and Australia.

Declan Kilbride

Declan Killbride

Based in LSH’s Manchester office, Declan’s role as Associate Director in the Asset Based Lending Valuation Team sees him carry out expert valuations of plant and machinery and inventory around the country. As a registered valuer with RICS, he is critical to our team’s ability to carry out client instructions, regardless of location, at speed. 

Declan draws on 30 years of experience in machinery and business asset appraisals, gained across many industrial sectors in more than 20 countries from Indonesia to Mexico. He joined LSH in 2016, bringing his background in traditional insurance appraisals and constantly refreshes his technical skills to remain at the forefront of the valuation discipline. Today Declan specialises in the detailed analysis and depreciation profiling that are essential to many hire fleet and inventory revolving loan facilities.

Nigel Sprack

Nigel Sprack

Nigel joined LSH as a Senior Valuer in April 2019, having contracted for LSH, and formerly Edward Symmons, for many years prior. As a specialist in inventory appraisals, he has undertaken valuations across most classes of industry for almost all the major asset-based lenders. Though based on the South Coast, his work takes him all over the UK and across the Channel.

Nigel originally trained as a management accountant, spending time as Finance Manager at electronics manufacturing firm Panasonic Mobile. This background adds to his ability to fully understand the financial situations that clients face, especially in the manufacturing sector, which is essential to providing a complete and informative valuation report.
