Ian Scott, a graduate in funding and development consultancy at LSH has been awarded Most Outstanding Student In The Final Year Of Their Course by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in recognition of his outstanding work while at studying at Sheffield Hallam University.

Ian has also been awarded the Association of Chief Estates Surveyors (ACES) award for Applied Valuation. Both awards were presented at the annual Sheffield Hallam Built Environment awards ceremony on 19 November.

Abid Jaffry, head of the Manchester office, of LSH said: “We’re delighted for Ian and he thoroughly deserves both of these awards. He’s an extremely talented surveyor with a big future ahead of him. When he first came to LSH in the middle of his study, it was clear that he had great potential. It is because of this that we were able to offer to sponsor Ian through his final year of study.

“Nurturing young talent is very important to LSH, and Ian has proven that with the right support from the industry, that talent can flourish.”

After spending a sandwich year of his degree course working in the valuation department at LSH’s Manchester office, Ian continued working part time with the company (in the capital markets team) while he completed the final year of his study. He then took up a full time position with LSH in the summer of 2015 as part of the office’s biggest ever intake of graduates. 

Ian said: “I’m very grateful for both of these awards and they’re testament to the continued support I’ve received from LSH over the past couple of years. Being able to work across a diverse range of service lines has enabled me to develop a comprehensive knowledge of surveying, and it’s been a first class introduction to the industry. 

It’s an exciting time for LSH in Manchester and for me personally and I look forward to continuing to develop my career with LSH going forward.”
