Vijay Singh, a newly-qualified Surveyor in our Sheffield office, won the Valuation category at the RICS Matrics Young Surveyor of the Year Awards.

The awards recognise and celebrate the most inspirational young surveying professionals in the UK. The judges look for outstanding role models who work to the highest standards of professionalism and act as advocates for the profession. Of the 75 surveyors that made this year’s shortlist, Vijay was the only winner from Yorkshire.

Vijay has carried out 70 valuations in just over 11 months, nearly all for HS2, resulting in extremely positive feedback from LSH colleagues and the client.

He is RICS Matrics Chairman for Yorkshire and is working with Sheffield Hallam University to design a Masters programme, due to commence in 2019, which aims to at inspire the next generation of property professionals.

The judges said Vijay was “a true ambassador, not only for Yorkshire, but for the surveying profession.”

Another Yorkshire-based LSH surveyor, Lucy McDowell, was also shortlisted in the same category, reflecting the depth of young talent in the team.

Vijay commented: “I’m honoured to win this prestigious award and be recognised as one of the best young surveyors in my field.  I’m looking forward to building on the experience and industry knowledge that I’ve gained with LSH to further enhance our service offering.”

Adrian Lunn, Head of Sheffield office at LSH, said: “Vijay is a talented and committed member of the team and has shown tremendous application and flair for his work, as our happy clients will testify. He’s got a very bright future ahead of him.”
