The local authority is undertaking a district-wide assessment of land suitable to accommodate new homes.

It has issued a ‘Call for Sites’ consultation encouraging landowners to notify them of land that could be a future housing development site.

Marcus Plaw, director of planning at LSH in the South West, said “We are making landowners and developers aware of the opportunity to present to the council sites with residential development potential.  The council requires this information to assess housing land supply and ultimately the delivery of new homes to meet future needs.”

He added: “Presenting available development sites will assist the council in the preparation of a new Local Plan.  Whilst this Call for Sites initiative does not determine whether a submitted site is allocated for residential development, it assists the Council in identifying small and larger strategic development sites when it is time to consider new land allocations in the Local Plan preparation process.”

The council must be notified of potential sites by 20 February to be considered in the 2015 review.
