Luxury interiors group has designs on growth

Luxury interiors furnishings group Walker Greenbank has opened a second industrial unit in Milton Keynes following a sustained period of growth.

The company, which designs and manufactures wall coverings, fabrics and complementary products under brand names including Morris & Co, Sanderson’s, Zoffany and Scion, has taken a 10-year lease at a 40,611 sq ft grade A warehouse on Libra Industrial Estate.

The move to Unit A comes after the company, which distributes its products across the world, turned to Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) for help in finding new premises in the town.

Caroline Geary, Company Secretary at Walker Greenbank, said it needed an additional warehouse because it had outgrown its existing 78,000 sq ft premises in Tillbrook, Milton Keynes.

Grade A unit provides company with further capacity for growth

The self-contained warehouse benefits from fully fitted, two-storey offices, nine-metre-high eaves, two dock and two-level entry loading doors and parking for 71 cars. It will be used to hold the company’s wallpaper and pattern book business.

“The business has been growing year-on-year for about seven years and we got to the point that it was becoming too packed to work efficiently at Tillbrook,” said Ms Geary.

“We wanted to stay in Milton Keynes because our staff are here. I contacted Lambert Smith Hampton and they were able to find us something suitable. This unit was available for the right terms and is close to our current premises, so we were very keen to take the lease. Everything went very smoothly.” She said Unit A should be fully operational by May 2014.

Luke Tillison, Senior Surveyor at LSH in Milton Keynes, said: “Walker Greenbank has been in Milton Keynes since the early 1990s, so it is good news for the area that it has remained in the town. This grade A unit provides further capacity for growth and is ideally suited for the company’s needs.”
