LSH embraces agile working with office move

Commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) is entering a new chapter in its Midlands operations after moving offices and embracing agile and collaborative working.

The consultancy has remained at Interchange Place, Birmingham, but has relocated from the fifth and part sixth floors to the second floor; reducing their footprint by around 35%.

Adam Ramshaw, regional director of LSH Birmingham and East Midlands, said: We operate very differently to how we did, when LSH first took space at Interchange Place, approx.13 years ago. It’s important LSH remains at the forefront of new ways of thinking and working, and this strategic move will allow us to continue to do so. Our employees are open to new ways of operating, and are ready to embrace agile working and the many benefits it brings to both us, and our clients.

“The relocation will see us significantly reduce our overheads, while still providing us with plenty of room to satisfy our ambitious growth plans; something which was critical to the move. We are practicing what we preach – we advise many of our clients on their office requirements, and how to make best use of space, through our office advisory and building consultancy teams. We are now implementing best practice to benefit our own business.

“The move signals the beginning of a new, more efficient way of working for our Birmingham team and the start of a new chapter for the consultancy.”

LSH worked with interior architects Hi Design, who undertook a workplace consultancy to analyse staff roles and team structures, using focus groups to explore the latest working practices. The results helped shape the eventual design of the space.

Susan Whittle, managing director of Hi Design, said commented: “Working with LSH has been exciting in the way they have enthusiastically adopted new ways of working. They were very open to innovative design ideas and keen to challenge existing custom and practice. Agile working is about providing staff with a choice of how and where they work. The design allows them to think about the day’s task, and to select the space that best supports it.

LSH’s own building surveying team has project managed the delivery of the project.
